Brewers Win!!!

After two rain delays, the Brewers pulled it off to win their first game of the season....and beat the Cubs!!! Hoorah!!!

March Progress Report

March wasn't nearly as productive as I'd hoped. Other responsibilities and lack of motivation kept me from making a lot of progress but the last couple of days I started getting my act together.

Here is a summary of what happened in March:
  • Pieced 2 Golden Memories BOM blocks
  • Finished piecing the Spinning Around the Block (backing)
  • Pieced 2 QOV blocks
  • Spent only 7-1/2 hours sewing
  • Went overbudget on spending but there were TWO quilt shows this month
  • Started walking for 1/2 hour during breaks at work

My goals for March are:

  • Quilt Rock Around the Block and Spinning around the Block (woohoo, will have 2 finishes in 1 shot)
  • Finish the last three Rambling' Rose BOM blocks
  • Start on Quiltville Orange Crush mystery.
  • Start QOV mystery top.
  • Continue exercising 3-5 times a week
  • Drink more water
  • Visit Fabric Shack quilt shop.....in person!!!
  • Have an awesome time at Paducah!!!

Will the Cinderella Story Continue???

Since Davidson beat the Badgers on Friday, I'll be cheering for them today. Will they be able to do again? They sure seem to have the heart for it. This is also the last weekend for local basketball games. This week they have a local tournament where guys from all over the state pick their own teams and duke it out. Yesterday there was some really great games....and some blowouts, but ya gotta have that sometimes.

I also got into the sewing room finally yesterday. Finished the two blocks for the new QOV top my group is working on. This morning I finished the last sampler block for Golden Memories. I still have the log cabin blocks to do though. I want to focus on finishing the Spinning Around the Block backing first. The rows have to be sewn together and then gotta add borders. Then I can get it loaded on the frame!!! I didn't get a finish in March so I gotta get my caboose moving in April.

Tomorrow is.....OPENING DAY. Will you be watching your favorite baseball team??? I have to work so I'll be listening on the radio!!! GO BREWERS!!!

Happy Easter!!!

I hope you found a huge Easter basket filled with all sorts of fun things this morning.

We'll be going by my SIL for brunch. It's my nephew's first Easter so I'm sure there will be lots of goodies. It's a little cold for an Easter egg hunt outside, but their house is big enough to do one inside.

The only sewing I've done this week was to start sewing the Spinning Around the Blocks rows together. I also cut the pieces out for the last Golden Memories sampler block. Once I get that finished I can work on the log cabin alternating blocks.

I had a weak moment this week and ordered a new quilt kit. It's the Indian Peaks pattern using the new Mementos fabrics. I love the fabric colors. I also bought a couple new patterns. I'm going to really try to not buy anything more until Paducah now, except I want to go to Fabric Shack when we're in Ohio next month. I can't wait!

If you're looking for a new quilt project, Bonnie from Quiltville has posted the fabric requirements for her new mystery "Orange Crush". The first clue will be posted on April 1.

National Quilting Day (Weekend)

I spent National Quilting Day at quilt shows/shopping. I had a blast and saw a lot of beautiful quilts. Saturday Mom went along to the one quilt show/expo. I wish we would have signed up for some classes, but maybe next year. Mom's still starting out with quilting and hopefully once she retires she'll get to work on it a lot more! I hope YOU got some sewing in or got to do something quilty for National Quilting Day.

I'm Going to Paducah!!!

I feel like I've just won the Super Bowl when I say that. Except they say "I'm Going to Disneyland" or is it DisneyWorld(?)! My friend and I booked our flights yesterday and most of the arrangements have been made. This will be my FIRST time there. I can't wait!!!

Before I fast-forward too far, this weekend I'll be going to TWO quilt shows. I need practice for the BIG show! I don't want to go to Paducah all out of shape afterall! LOL At the end of this month there is also a shop hop which I'm still deciding if I'm going. It would be to shops that I've never been to, but I should be saving for Paducah. What's a girl to do?

So far this week sewing has been non-existent. I started coming down with a cold on Monday so the couch has been my best buddy along with my laptop. I've been working on my genealogy research so it's not like I haven't been doing anything.

March Madness

The high school basketball games are done. The two teams we went to watch on Friday both lost so we came home Friday night. The one team with the best chances, lost the game by one point in the last 6 seconds. It was a real heartbreaker, but life will go on.

Saturday I did some cleaning in the morning and then finished up my Spinning Around the Block blocks. I just need to piece the blocks together and then I can load it on the frame. In the afternoon I got sidetracked by Ancestry.com while I was watching the state championship basketball games on TV. I really didn't want to get hooked on working on my genealogy stuff again since I've got so many other things going on (or things I SHOULD be doing). I will need to set a certain amount of time that I can work on it and then stick to that, or I'll never get anything else done. Not to mention DH will get ticked if I spend the whole day on the computer.

DH had to help his father this morning so I, um, worked on my laptop . We just got back from cross country skiing so we'll probably just relax the rest of the day.

Winter Blues

I've kind of been in a funk lately which I'm sure is due to this long winter. But there are some exciting things in the near future to help me get motivated again.

Tomorrow we're going to watch the state's boys basketball games. Hopefully we'll be staying and going on Saturday too if the teams we're watching win tomorrow. Next weekend there are TWO quilt shows that I can go to. Plus baseball is just around the corner. I can't wait to see how the season will go this year.

Also remember that it's daylight savings time this weekend!!! I LOVE that it's light out when I go to work and come home from work now. I hate driving at night.

Update from the sewing room - not much progress this week. I did finish three more backing blocks (4 of 12 done) for Rock Around the Block. Next week looks like it should be quieter so I'm hoping to get the rest of the blocks done so I can get it on the frame for quilting.

February Progress Report

Here is a summary of what happened in February:

  • Finished Stars & Stripes and Sunwashed quilts

  • Pieced 8 Golden Memories BOM blocks

  • Pieced the Rock Around the Block (blue & orange) top

  • Pieced 4 QOV blocks

  • Spent 33 hours sewing

  • Stayed within my budget for the month

  • We also accumulated approximately 2 feet of snow over the month.

My goals for March are:

  • Quilt and finish Rock Around Blue & Orange

  • Quilt and finish Turtle Talk

  • Go to one of the two quilt shows weekend of March 14-15

  • Finish Golden Memories sampler BOM blocks and start log cabin alternating blocks

  • Pick up the rest of the Rambling' Rose BOM blocks and get them pieced

  • Make one top using either jelly roll or charm set in my stash

  • Stay within my budget.

  • Continue to exercise - x-country ski or start walking

This morning I also helped MIL give the six puppies baths. For the most part they did very good getting blown dry. Two are going to their new homes today, one more tomorrow and the other two later this week. It was a long day, but it was fun spending time with them.
