2014 Goals - Mantra:  "Never Give Up" and Word of the Year "Adapt"

Quilting
  • Finish Washington Medallion flimsie
  • Golden Memories (main blocks are done)
    • Piece log cabin blocks
    • Finish setting
    • Finish quilt top
  • Quilt at least 1 flimsie from the pile
Knitting
  • Knit more scarf, mitten, hat combos
  • Knit Christmas gifts throughout the year
  • Knit Dianthe
  • Learn to double-knit
  • Knit primarily from my queue, except if there is a new pattern/KAL that I have to knit.
    • Use other brand yarns - like Cascade, Miss Babs, Queensland, Wollmeise. Yarn I've used:
      • Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock
      • Dream in Color Classy
      • Zen Yarn Garden Superwash Sock
      • Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted
      • Red Heart Super Saver
      • Biscotte & Cie Felix
    • Use yarn stash as much as possible!!! Projects knit using stash:

      • Waffle Scarf
    • Buy new patterns and yarn only when I'm going to be starting them

  • Quilt at least 2-3 flimsies from the pile (not counting Nighty Night Owl)
Knitting
  • Learn to double-knit
  • Knit primarily from my queue, except if there is a new pattern/KAL that I have to knit.
  • Use yarn stash as much as possible!!!
  • Buy new patterns and yarn only when I'm going to be starting them
  • Exceptions:  Camp Loopy, MadMay and Fall for Tosh

  • Run a half-marathon
  • Continue learning Tae Kwon Do

  • Participate in 2-3 10K races
  • Continue decluttering the house

2011 Goals - Year of the PIGs (Projects in Grocery Sacks/Bags)

Quilting
  • Use it up (at least 100 yards, preferably older fabric). 
  • Stop buying - fabric as well as yarn.
  • Use my GO! cutter
  • Work on my PhDs, particularly my UFO Challenge list.
  • Work on PIGs to make room in the closet for FQ bundles and yarn
  • Cut scraps from a project right away, rather than throwing them into a bin to do later.
  • Keep track of purchases and report a stash report weekly.
Knitting
  • Learn how to knit cables - Winter Wonder cowl
  • Learn how to knit fair isle/colorwork - signed up for Sweetheart Hat class on Jan. 29
  • Join one sock/yarn club (Rockin' Sock Club or Loopy Ewe) - signed up for Rockin' Sock Club
  • Keep track of purchases on a weekly basis and confess with fabric stash report.
  • Knitting projects I'd like to work on this year:
  • Knit scarfs, cowls, hats, shawls for Christmas presents
  • Go to the Sheep & Wool Festival in September
Life
  • Reduce the clutter in the house:  Choose a room to work on each month.
  • Exercise at least 3 days/week.

2010 Goals – The Year to "FOCUS":

Finish Flimsies (in other words…get ‘em quilted!!!)
Only buy if needed
Clean up the clutter (in the entire house!)
UFOs – get ‘em done
Search the Stash first

Stashbusting Goals:
  • Use at least 150 yards of stash
  • Keep buying to a minimum.
  • Add less yardage than I use; does not include BOMs (Cobblestone Lane and Vintage Memories). 
  • Items on my “want list”:  
    • Judy L’s Weekend Quilts
    • Judy Martin’s Stellar Quilts – preordered 2/10
    • Looking Back FQ bundle – preordered 1/10
    • Wilmington’s Essential Sparkle and Scroll blender fabric
  • Move out enough fabric in closet/cabinet so I can move fabric from under sewing table in.
  • Re-fold fabric to better utilize room in closet/cabinet. – Cabinet done
  • Quilt/Finish 13 quilts (particularly tops made prior to 2010)
  • Make at least 1 donation quilt a month.
  • Work on at least 3 kits/PIGS (projects in grocery sacks). Some possibilities: 
    • Portobello Market (y-seams!)
    • Sherbert Stars
    • Tea with Martha & Betsy
    • Salute
  • Make more quilts from books/patterns that I own, particularly: 
    • Timberline Log Cabin (Judy Martin’s Log Cabin) – blue/brown/cream
    • Morning Splash (Judy LaQuidara’s QAL) – brights – started 12/19/09; flimsie finished 7/18/10
    • Jelly & Jam - Grape Jam flimsie finished
    • Birdseye - flimsie finished
    • Claire handbag - started
    • X-rated (Schnibbles Times Two) - flimsie finished
    • Sweet Escape (Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co.) – Gypsy Rose fabric
    • Quilts on the Double – red/white/black
    • Black Friday (Judy LaQuidara) – brights
  • Make more “simple” and quick quilts (they don’t all have to be complex)
  • Make table runner (home) and wallhanging (work) for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter/spring - Valentine’s Day done (1/13); Snoopy table topper;
  • Learned how to do mitered corners – He Loves My Daisies.
  • Continue learning how to knit. 
  • Make pair of socks – Completed
  • Finish veetee sweater – Done 1/25/10
  • Only buy yarn for a specific project….no room for a yarn stash!!
Personal Goals:
  • Continue exercising every day and eating right
  • Keep my a1c down to under 5.9 - May result:  5.6!!!
  • Participate in the CellCom Mini Marathon (2.62 miles) at Lambeau Field - finished in 33 min 45 sec
  • Go through the boxes (at least 1 a month) in the basement and consolidate or donate/throw out what I don’t want.

2009 Goals - The Year to “Use It”

Here are some things I’d like to do in 2009:

•Make a feathered star – Completed

•Make a project that has Y-seams.

•Make a tote bag. – Completed

•Work on one paper-piece project – working on Diamond Jubilee

•Organize scraps similar to Bonnie Hunter’s scrap system – started

•Work on Christmas projects throughout the year!!!

•Finish Patchwork Party Summer 2008 top

2009 Stashbusting Goals


•I can’t, with good conscience, agree to “not buy” any fabric next year, so I’m proposing to “Low” buy (keep it to a minimum) fabrics and supplies.

•Use at least 125 yards of stash (with 75 yards more than I buy). – I’ve used over 125 yards, but have not reached the added goal…still the numbers are a lot better than last year.

•Make at least 5 projects (kits or PIGS) that have been on my “Projects Waiting to be Started” list prior to 2009.

- Diamond Jubilee started

- Double Dip (teal/brown/cream)

- A Haunting We Will Go

- He Loves My Daisies


•Quilt at least 3 of my older tops (pre-2008 ) – 30s Pinwheel Stars (3/21).
