Ready, Set, Go!

This morning hubby and I met another couple to watch the Triathlon in Elkhart Lake. This was my first time going and it was amazing. There were over 800 participants...none that I knew (that I know of). There was a wide range too...from the die-hard athletes, skinny, fat, young, old. This really surprised me because I pictured someone that could do this as being in ultimate condition. What really inspired me was one man who approached the water on crutches. This man had one leg, his second leg was only from the knee up. It really made me feel like a slug. Here this guy is doing a triathlon and I have a hard time walking or biking a couple miles. Although I don't foresee myself doing a triathlon anytime in the near future, this definitely inspired me to continue getting in better shape.

I also loaded the backing for Quilting Gone Wild onto the frame. The batting is de-wrinkling. After I got that done I cut more pieces for Snow Wonderland. I've got about 1/4 of the fabrics to cut yet. Then I can start piecing the blocks. :0)

On another note, DH just brought the mail in and guess what?? My package came from Fat Quarter Shop!!! I just joined the Moda FQ bundle club (they also have one for jelly rolls, charms and layer cakes) so every month I get 12 fat quarters of one of the new fabric collections. July's collection is Isn't Christmas Jolly. Also in the package was my Patchwork Party 2008 block. I know, I know. I'm suppose to be stashbusting. I tried avoiding it but ended up caving and ordering the blocks and kit earlier this week. I originally was going to get the log cabin finishing kit from Quilters Quarters but when I tried to add it to the cart, it said it was no longer available. That's what I get for waiting until the end. I ended up chosing the Fireworks in Prairie Park from Homespun Hearth. This top was just so different I thought it would be neat to make. It's very possible the top may never get completed though since I'm not a big applique fan....hhhmm, maybe one of my friends will offer to do the applique for me. (jk) Actually the applique pieces look fairly large so I think I should be able to manage it. It's the smaller pieces that I don't do well on.

I held off as long as I could and caved last week as well....I bought the Patchwork Party blocks too! I really love the Prairie Paisley line and just couldn't resist any longer. I went with Anna Lena's setting kit. I posted the first block on my blog. Look forward to see your progress!
