Two Finishes!!!

It's done...with time to spare!  Nighty Nighty Owl is done and ready to be gifted to the mommy-to-be at the baby shower on Saturday.

I also finished Pamir, the hat I cast on last Friday.  Gotta love quick projects!

Up next the pooling sock challenge.  I think I've decided on Ampersand (upside down) sock.  I might cast on tonight yet. It depends if I have any quiet time so I can pay attention at the beginning since it's been a while since I've knit socks.

Today The Loopy Ewe also revealed the 2nd Qtr Challenge details which requires you to knit a stranded/colorwork project.  I'm going to make a cowl, but have to wait until the yarn gets here.  Yes, I ordered yarn.  The needles are going to be smoking for the next couple of months because I have the two challenges mentioned, plus MadMay is coming up in May.  Then Camp Loopy starts in June and will go for three months.  Wish me luck!

On the Needles - 3/29/13

Charleston Tea is "on hold" for the moment.  I knit the button-band on Wednesday but I'm pondering ripping it out.  I think I didn't pick up enough stitches because it's a little tight/pulls in around the hood.  If I don't put the hood up (which I likely won't), I think it'll be OK.  So until I decide, I'm leaving the stitch markers in place for where the buttons will go.

In the meantime, I cast on the Pamir hat (Ravelry link) with my Hazel Knits DK Lively yarn in Electrolyte.  The color in the photo is washed out....in real life it's a neon yellow/green color.

On the Needles - 3/22/13

Early this week I escaped sleeve island and parachuted onto hood haven.  I have about 6.5 inches left to knit on the hood.  Once the hood is done I will have the buttonband to knit, buttons to sewn on and ends to weave in.  The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little brighter.

Are you sick of seeing pictures of my Charleston Tea?   Now that the sleeves are done I'm more excited to work on it again.

On the Needles - 3/15/13

I'm still hanging out on sleeve island, but getting closer to hood haven.  I had hoped to have the sleeves done by now but was sick all last weekend, and I haven't quite figured out how to knit while I'm sleeping.  I've got about 11 inches left on the second sleeve.

Part of me wants to cast on something else, but I usually only have one knitting project going at one time.  Otherwise I'm afraid it might never get finished (like many of my quilting projects hangs head in shame).  Are you a monogamous knitter or do you have several projects on the needles at once?

On the Needles - 3/8/13

The body is complete, and I've finally reached sleeve island.  It's delightfully warm and sunny here which is good because I may be here a while.  The first sleeve is about 6 inches long from where I picked up the stitches.  If I ever want to get off the island, I better get off this computer and get knitting!

Can you tell I've knit 7.5 inches since my last post?  I have 2.5 inches to knit for the body and 2 inches of ribbing to go.  Then it's off to sleeve island which I hope to have started by next week's post.

On the Needles - 2/22/13

Yep, I'm late again.  My Charleston Tea has grown quite a bit, but still has a long way to go.  I'm a couple rows past the sleeve separation.

I finally got some pictures of Tibet and the Sea Beanie hat.  Tibet is for a KAL that the designer is hostessing.  The Sea Beanie hat is for The Loopy Ewe's 1st Qtr Challenge and the MadToshForMe (Madelinetosh group) KAL.

On the Needles - 2/15/13

I remembered to take a picture of my current project on Wednesday when I was off.  Amazed aren't you?!?!

Tibet is off the needles and currently blocking.  Hopefully I can get some decent pics of it this weekend. 

Of course I had to immediately cast on another project.  I decided to cast on Charleston Tea which I've had in my queue since it came out in May last year.  It's a hooded cardigan by Thea Colman (Baby Cocktails).  I love Thea's designs, especially the sweaters. 

I think I made pretty good progress in two days.  The pattern is easy to memorize.

On the Needles - 2/8/13

It's been a couple weeks since I've posted about what is on my needles.  (I keep forgetting to take a picture, and who wants to look at a post without pictures?!?!)  I've finished the hat from the last post.  (Sorry I haven't gotten a decent enough picture to post yet.)  The shawl has grown a little bit.  I'm finally on the border and hope to have it done by the end of the month to meet the Tibet KAL deadline.

I love the colors together, but apparently the base changed at some point and I got one new and one old skein because the pink colored yarn is much thicker than the grey.

After seeing Judy's post today, I may or may not have ordered some Into the Whirled yarn myself.  Look at that gorgeous yarn being packaged up at The Loopy Ewe!  I wonder who that lucky girlperson is?!?!

On the Needles - 1/18/13

Well, I started this on Friday, but couldn't get the photos to upload so this is a little old.

Two new projects on the needles this week.  I finished my cousin's cowl early Saturday afternoon.  I needed something to keep my fingers/mind busy during the pathetic Packer's game, so I cast on Tibet, a striped shawl.

Then on Wednesday I cast on the Sea Beanie hat for The Loopy Ewe 1st Quarter Challenge and Madtoshforme Stitch-along.  I was addicted to working on it and ended up knitting half of the cable pattern. (The photo is really washed out from my Ott light.  The color is really a dark green.)

Knit the Queue #2 Finished

A week after I cast on and my cousin's cowl is finished!!!  (It's doubled up in the photo.)  The yarn is Dream in Color, colorway - Navy Zeal.  I hope she likes it.  The colorway has some black mixed in with the navy which I didn't see when I ordered it online.  It's most noticeable in the two knit sections.

Knit from the Queue #1 Finished

My running hat is done!  I finished it last night during the Packer's game.

I quickly cast on a cowl which my cousin asked me to knit.  I am hoping to get it done by Jan. 15 which is when the MadTosh SAL (stitch-along) starts.  I am going to double-dip on that one and work on another hat that will count for the SAL and The Loopy Ewe's 1st Quarter Challenge.  The 1st Quarter Challenge requires that you use one skein (or less) of yarn and use a pattern with cables in it.

On the not-so good side, I ended up ordering more than just the challenge yarn.  I needed to get free shipping after all.  So my goal of not adding to my yarn stash isn't going so great.....but all the yarn is for projects in my queue so that makes it alright, right?!?!

Knit the Queue 2013 - Project #1

Happy New Year everyone!!!  Hope the first day of the year has been a good one.

One of my knitting goals for the new year is to knit projects from my Ravelry queue.  I currently have 170 projects in my queue of which about two-thirds have yarn bought specifically for one of these projects.  This will be a great way to reduce some of my yarn stash too!

I have no fantasies that I'll knit them all this year, as many items in my queue are sweaters.  I know there will be some new patterns that will be published during the year that I'll have to knit.  I'd be happy to knit 10 projects from the queue.

So to start off the year, I cast on a hat that has been in my queue since last February!  I've got a nice start on it.  The colorway is Pop Rocks, a hot pink.  I'm planning on wearing it when I go slogging outside.

Tomorrow it's back to work.  I'm not quite ready to go back, but guess it had to happen eventually.
