Week #48 Stash Report

Very little sewing this week. I used up the rest of the gift certificate that I won, so 18 yards was added to my stash. Three yards of that is for the Hole in One backing which I already started loading on the quilt frame. After today I should have more time to sew. I can't wait!!!

Here are my numbers:
  • Fabric Added this Week: 18 yards
  • Fabric Added YTD: 229.50 yards
  • Fabric Used this Week: 3 yards
  • Fabric Used YTD: 153.25 yards
  • Net Fabric Used: -76.25 yards
I'm still working on fine-tuning my goals for next year. My mantra for next year is "FOCUS".

We don't have much going on today until later (after the Packer game, of course). It sure was nice to sleep in this morning.

Hope everyone has a great Turkey Day!!!

Sweater Progress

On Tuesday I showed my progress on my first sweater (back side). This is what it looks like now. I'm very happy with the amount of progress I've made on it.

Only a couple boo-boos so far. This was my first time doing the M1k stitch, and the first one left a small hole (like for a button). I also knitted a row where I was suppose to have purled. I left it in though, I think it looks kinda neat...breaks it up a bit.

Not bad for a beginner, huh?!?! In another couple rows I will start shaping the armholes and will have to learn how to add another skein of yarn.

Time to get back to it. Hopefully I can get the back done this week sometime.

Week #47 Stash Report

Nothing in, nothing out. Until yesterday I didn't even step foot into my sewing room. Yesterday I finished the Hole in One top, which all fabric had already been accounted for on the stash report. Then I went back and started making the last 26 log cabin blocks for He Loves My Daisies.

Here are my numbers:
  • Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Added YTD: 211.50 yards
  • Fabric Used this Week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Used YTD: 150.25 yards
  • Net Fabric USED: -61.25 yards

I only have Thanksgiving Day off this week, so I won't get much sewing time. If I do get in the sewing room, I will continue working on the log cabin blocks. I also need to decide on backing for Hole in One so I can get that on the quilt frame.

After Nov. 30, I should get back to my normal routine and then I can get more stash busted! My extended goals are to work on my two Cobblestone Lane BOM blocks, pull fabrics for a Judy Martin project starting in January, and start on Judy's Morning Splash. Continue working on my 2010 stashbusting/personal goals.

It's Here!!!!

Cobblestone Lane Block #1 arrived today!!! I really wanted to start it but it'll have to wait until I get Hole in One finished. With it being so hectic at work, I haven't felt like sewing when I get home. Maybe Saturday morning I can get Hole in One rows sewn together before I have to go to work.

I find that knitting takes a lot less energy, so I've been working on the back of my first sweater. The pattern is Berroco's Veetee. I'm using Paton's Classic Wool in the Denim Marl colorway. The picture doesn't show much, but so far it's going pretty good. The only thing is that I have loops on the bottom edge. When I cast on, I made my stitches too loose. The last time I cast on for my scarf, it was too tight I could hardly get the needles in so I wanted to make sure I made it looser this time. Oh well, I can live with it.

On It's Way!!!

The much anticipated Block #1 is finally on its way to my house!!! The quilt shop posted yesterday that they received the Aster Manor fabric last week and will be shipping out Block #1 today! I think I'll be camping out at the mailbox the next couple of days!

Week #46 Stash Report

My monthly FQ bundle came in, but I also cut the rest of the alternating blocks and border fabric so it was a wash this week. I met my goal of using 150 yards this year!!

Here are my numbers:
  • Fabric Added this Week: 3 yards
  • Fabric Added YTD: 211.50 yards
  • Fabric Used this Week: 3 yards
  • Fabric Used YTD: 150.25 yards
  • Net Fabric USED: -61.25 yards
I'm on call for work tomorrow and then will be putting in long hours until after Nov. 30. If I don't have to go into work tomorrow, I want to finish sewing the Hole in One rows together and start on borders. Otherwise Hole in One will have to wait until December.

Happy Veteran's Day

Honor those, past and present, who have served our country.

On my way home, I saw a lady walking her dog along the highway. She was carrying a full-sized flag too. It was a beautiful sight!

Knitted Scarf Is Done!

My ribbing scarf is done! Not the best picture, but it was late and I was tired. I think I'm ready to try the sweater again.

Hole In One Progress

I love how quickly this has come together! I just may get it done by Christmas. This picture is missing one row (it's on the design board at the top of the picture) because I still need to complete the last chain block. I also need to decide what to do about a border. I was going to put a small red inner border and then a wider border, but I'm not sure what fabric to use for the wider border. OR I could just leave it and bind it with the red fabric.

Community in Mourning

Our small community is mourning the death of Amy Krueger who was killed at Ft. Hood this past week. Tonight they're having a service at the memorial park. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

I didn't know her personally. The newspaper reported that she enlisted the day after 9/11. The paper also stated that in October she got a tattoo that said "All Gave Some, Some Gave All. Sacrifice".

Week #45 Stash Report

I was a good girl this week. No fabric in. I had off of work yesterday so I started on Hole in One. I made great progress, all but one of the pieced blocks are done. Just need to cut out more of the alternating squares and decide on what to do for the border.

Here are my numbers:
  • Fabric Added This Week: 0 yds
  • Fabric Added YTD: +208.50
  • Fabric Used This Week: -5 yds
  • Fabric Used YTD: -147.25 yds
  • Net Fabric USED: -61.25 yds

Sewing Saturday!!!

Finally it's Saturday!! I'm taking today off work so I can start piecing Hole in One. I started last night by washing my red fabric and started piecing some strips together.

Once I finish loading my iPod with songs and charging it so I can take it to work tomorrow, I'll get busy and make more strips. I'll post a picture of my progress later.

Weekend Report

I can't believe the weekend is over already. We did a lot this weekend but not as much was accomplished as I'd have liked. Let's review my list:
  • Enlarging goat pen and finish partition inside their house - Mother Nature didn't cooperate yesterday so we only got the inside of their house finished. This morning we got all the posts pounded into the ground and put up two rolls of fencing. We need one more roll to finish the enclosure.
  • Trip to dump - yup, except forgot the newspapers...arrgghh
  • Finish "C" log cabins - Done!
  • Load Nature's Chorus - nope
  • Got to BBQ restaurant - what a disappointment. Famous Dave's is still on top.
  • Laundry - tomorrow
  • Packers game - yup, we watched it...glad they came back in the second half. But it wasn't enough.

Week #44 Stash (Enhancement) Report

Yep, I did it again. Earlier this summer I won a gift certificate from the awesome Thousands of Bolts.com online fabric shop. (If you haven't gone there, you don't know what you're missing!) I decided to go ahead and use some of my certificate since I have to use it by the end of the year...yes, I still have a little bit left.

Everything you see in the picture, except the top two tan fabrics, is what I won...19 lbs of delicious yumminess. I think it's rather fitting since I have lost 20 lbs since April, so each pound of fabric represents the weight I've lost. Hard to believe I carried around that extra baggage. The icing on the cake was that I had my a1c test (glucose) and my numbers went down so I'm headed in the right direction. What an awesome way to celebrate huh?!?!

The two tan fabrics are from the Hole in One fabric collection. I decided I should probably start on my bosses' Christmas present. I'm going to use some stash but I'm still deciding what to do about the border and backing. I may get the coordinating fabric.

Here are my numbers:
  • Fabric Added this Week: +59 yards
  • Fabric Added YTD: +208.50 yards
  • Fabric Used this Week: -1.25 yards
  • Fabric Used YTD (goal 150): -142.25 yards
  • Net Fabric USED: -66.25 yards
It's not looking too promising that I'll be able to get out of the hole before the end of the year (especially since I have to use the rest of my certificate), but that's alright. Something to strive for next year.
Goals this Week:
  • Start on Hole in One
  • Continue working on log cabin blocks
