My First Cables!

One of my knitting goals this year is to do a project with cables in it.  Last month the Winter Wonder pattern was published, and I immediately thought it would be a small enough project to try meeting my goal.  Then a couple weeks ago, The Loopy Ewe posted they are having a cable challenge for the 1st Quarter of 2011.  I took it as a sign and on Sunday I cast on Winter Wonder with my new Tosh DK yarn.   What could be better than crossing off a goal from my list, trying out a new yarn, and working on a Christmas gift the second week of January!?!?!

At first I wasn't sure I was doing the cables right because the stitches seemed to really stretch on either side of the cable, but after knitting the next couple of rows it all pulls back together.  I'm starting the second of four repeats of the pattern.  Although I LOVE the way cables look, I'm not sure I like knitting them.  I don't like how tight it is when you're trying to knit the stitches that were on the cable needle.  But I suppose it also depends on the type of yarn you're using.

You're doing a great job. I like the beautiful blue color. I am still learning how to knit/purl without dropping stitches!
