Knitting Report - Week Ending 9/20/13

Well, here we are, it's Friday again. Time to report yarn and pattern purchases. Let's start with patterns. I did buy three patterns this week.

The first is the Knit Night (Ravelry link) shawl. Sheri from The Loopy Ewe blogged about it and the designer discounted it for the group. I figure this will be a great pattern to use up some of my variegated stash yarn. When I first started knitting I bought a lot of variegated yarn to knit socks. While I don't mind knitting socks, I don't particularly like knitting with such small needles.

The second pattern I bought was Whitman (Ravelry link). The designer is offering 50% (code SEPT22). I love that this includes sizes ranging from a 4 year old child up to adult with bigger sized heads (like my hubby).  Again, this will work great for some of the single skeins of DK weight yarn I have.

The third pattern is Criollo (Ravelry link), a cute short- or long-sleeved cardigan.  I wasn't sold on this until I saw a picture of a fellow knitter's finished cardigan.  Brooke's (Ravelry link) is absolutely stunning.  I'm thinking of knitting the short-sleeved version.

Yarn has arrived in the house, but I didn't technically BUY it so my no-buy of 34 days is still intact. I was telling my mom about the 4th Quarter Challenge and how I was torn about breaking my no-buy.  Since my birthday is next week, she decided to buy me the yarn so I could participate in the challenge. The blue/white skein is my prize for finishing all three projects for Camp Loopy.

On the left is Madelinetosh Vintage in Cherry.  On the right is Lorna's Laces Solemate in Blue Skies Over Colorado.
