Great Day Off!

Yesterday was my day off.  Last week I had learned that Magpie's Cottage had moved to a new location.  This week they posted on their website that they were discontinuing their previous rewards program and to get credit for your card punches, you needed to "cash them in" by this Saturday.  So, what's a girl to do, but go and check out the new shop and "cash it in"?!?!?!

First I went to Kohls because I had a 30% off my entire order. I wanted to look for summer tops for work and I found several! According to their receipt, I "saved" $98.  Then decided to stop at Michael's since I don't get to that side of town too often.  I found some pink Bernat Softee baby yarn marked down to $1/skein, plus some discounted rotary cutter blades.  Also in the picture is one skein of Malabrigo.  It was funny because the first color I picked up to look at was the exact colorway I bought in Ohio.  The other skein is Misti Alpaca and is very soft.  The owner mentioned to me that the colorway was called Wisconsin which I hadn't even noticed.

When I was in Ohio, Jill brought her sweater book (Saturday Style) for me to look at.  I liked a bunch of the patterns so I decided to buy it.  I really liked the sweater shown below and found some yarn by the same manufacturer, Araucania, in Ruca Multy, color #3 (yellow, coral, lilac and blue).  It's 100% SUGAR CANE!  (Hopefully it doesn't dissolve if it gets wet.)  Who would have thought?  It was a little expensive, but so super soft.  I absolutely LOVE this yarn.

It was a great day!

Birdseye Update:  All 25 star blocks are complete, and I'm ready to start on the alternate 9 patch blocks.
