Saturday was a mini road trip to Dayton. The boys went to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. I had gone several years ago with hubby so I met up with Jill and we went shop hopping. She found several yarn and quilt shops to check out.
The first shop we went to didn't open until 1:00 which is kind of surprising for a Saturday. So we headed over to Busy Beavers Art & Crafts. We had to chuckle at the name...not sure what they were thinking when they named it, but after going in, we realized that the name fit the shop. There every kind of crafting supply possible there. Unfortunately, it's kind of on the small side and there was stuff EVERYWHERE! It was kind of claustrophic. We had a great time sorting through the yarn. Jill wanted to see if some of the fiber was soft or not.
Second we went to the Yarn & Needle which was very nice. Unfortunately shortly after we got there I didn't feel very good so I didn't get to browse as closely as I'd have liked. I think if I had felt better, I could have done some damage on my credit card.
I hung on and we went to one more yarn store, Yarnique, where we both found great deals on needles. I also found a gorgeous hank of Malabrigo sock yarn.
I still wasn't feeling very good so Jill dropped me back off at the Air Force museum so I could lie down. (Don't you love my wind-blown hair...it was VERY windy.) I had fun, but was bummed that we didn't get to spend more time together. It was great to meet Jill, and I'm hoping we can get together again next year.
After Jill dropped me off, I laid down while the boys finished their tour of the museum.
Since I wasn't feeling so great on Saturday, hubby bought me some ice cream at the Air Force museum. I haven't worked up the nerve to try it yet.
On the way back, hubby had a brilliant idea to take a different way so we could swing by the track to get the tickets on the way back to the hotel. Unfortunately a semi tipped over on the ramp so we were diverted in the opposite direction and ended up having to drive a couple miles out of the way before we could do a U-turn (like everyone else). After we picked up the tickets, we went back to the hotel where I napped some more. Since it was windy and cold (45 degrees), we waited until the last minute to go to the track. Thankfully they didn't mess around too much and we were heading back to the hotel around 9:30.
