On the Needles - 8/30/13

First, I have a finish to report.  My second Hitchhiker was completed this week.  It has a total of 38 teeth which is a lot smaller than my first one.  I like how it turned out.

On Wednesday I sent out a poll to a couple of friends asking for help on choosing my next knitting project.  I sent them a picture of two balls of yarn, each a different colorway.  I loved hearing the reasoning behind why they picked the way they did.  The majority chose the yarn that would be for Rafters, the new pattern I posted about a couple weeks ago. The first thing you knit is the shoulder saddle.  I knit two rows and then got confused because the pattern had updates to the cable key portion but some of the pages weren't updated.  Then someone on Ravelry had another question, so I decided to wait until a couple other projects have been completed before I try to take that pattern on.

So long story short, I ended up casting on the Gelsomina Aran sweater.  This is knit flat and then seamed together.  The pattern is written for -1 to +2 inches of ease.  I started with the size that would give me zero ease.  I don't like my clothes form-fitting so once I finish the back I'll see what size it comes out to and might knit the front in the next size up for a little bit of positive ease.

The picture shows the hem and the first three rows of the cable pattern.  You can just see the "V" forming.
