Yarn Report - Week Ending 10/4/13

My "birthday" yarn arrived this week, so further down the rabbit hole I go.  It's Madelinetosh 80/10/10 Fingering in the Hearth colorway. It's difficult to capture the colors accurately, but they're a gorgeous orange-gold-brown color. They're darker than the picture in real life.

I didn't BUY any patterns this week. I was, however, one of the winners in a Knit Picks giveaway so I won the Capra Collection book. It has the Dianthe pattern I mentioned a couple weeks ago. I did not order yarn (yet) because I have plenty of other projects to finish up first. Jill and I are tentatively planning a KAL (knit-along) in January though.

I am so excited!!! I just received my activation email to access CustomFit, a new web-based "software" program designed by Amy Herzog.  Amy is a pattern designer (mostly sweaters) and the author of Knit to Flatter, a book that helps you choose designs that flatter your body shape. CustomFit is slowly being rolled out to all newsletter subscribers and eventually will be available to everyone. They are adding groups of people every day so they don't bog down the site and so they can manage any bugs that appear that weren't caught by the beta testers. The program will help you design a custom knit pattern based on your measurements and gauge swatch. All of the beta testers have raved about how well their sweaters fit. The use of the site is free. You pay per pattern. I didn't think I would be able to access the site until next week so I need to get busy and take my measurements and knit a swatch. I can't wait to play!

ooooooo-lovely pattern. I admired it when I received my last yarn catalogue. It has been a long time since I made a sweater but I always admire cables and lacey patterns. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.
