Week #6 Stash Report

I've been keeping track of my "ins" and "outs" in a spreadsheet and I'm starting to see a trend. It seems every other week I have no fabric coming into my stash. And as the trend goes, next week I should have some fabric to add since I ordered two backing fabrics. I haven't had the best luck with this company when I order sale fabric so we'll see if/when I actually get it. If I have problems again, this will be the last time I order from them. Another plus, I have not bought any kits to date.

I did use 6 yards of fabric this week (mostly last Sunday). I made some blocks for a group QOV project, the backing (wide so only 3 yds) for the 30s Pinwheel Stars, and fabric for the Square Dance Kids.

I got as far as piecing the Square Dance Kids top together, but then chickened when it came to marking it, cutting it up, and sewing it back together. I'm thinking that when I do finish it, I'll give it to my nephew Zack. For the border, I added a fabric that hubby's grandmother used for backing on the last top she made. She had started quilting it but then passed away. MIL had it quilted at the LQS and gave me the leftover scraps. I think my SIL would definitely appreciate it since she was really close to her grandmother.

My numbers to date:

  • Fabric Added: 0 yards
  • Fabric Added to Date: 19 yards
  • Fabric Used: 6 yards
  • Fabric Used to Date: 38.25 yards
  • Net Used: 19.25 yards

Week #2 means it is quilting time. I have the backing loaded for the 30s Pinwheel Stars. I'm planning on using the Hearts Aflutter pantograph on it. Next Saturday I have my feathers class too. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi Amy,
You said:I got as far as piecing the Square Dance Kids top together, but then chickened when it came to marking it, cutting it up, and sewing it back together.

I am interested in seeing what you are going to cut up on this lovely quilt. It is simple, brights and interesting now.

You did well this week.
