On the Needles - 1/23/15

Before I show you what's on the needles, I'll show you what's been on and off the needles since last week.

First, I finished the Ariosa cowl. Love the Hosta Blue colorway. This was submitted for the Eat Sleep Knit Yarnathon - Chunky KAL.

Wednesday I cast on and 5 hours later finished the Tyson Hat using the same yarn as the cowl above. This was submitted for the Eat Sleep Knit Yarnathon Headgear KAL.

Blue Sand is still on the needles. I finally finished the short rows. Next up is the pocket openings and hem. I found out last weekend that they discontinued the Bloomsbury (blue) colorway that I'm using, so I ordered 2 skeins just in case I need more.

On the Needles - 1/16/15

Blue Sand it coming along nicely. I ended up using both contrast colors in the last contrast section. It looks alright but in hindsight, I'm thinking it would have looked better with one stripe of the main color before and after the blue to make it stand out more. I'm not ripping so it's staying the way it is. I have a couple more rows before the short row section starts, so I took a little break from this. Once I start the short rows, I will need to be focused with no hubby or doggie interruptions.

So for mindless knitting, I cast on the Ariosa Broken Rib Cowl using Madelinetosh Chunky yarn in Hosta Blue. Only 6.5 inches left to go. Very easy pattern - easy to memorize. This will qualify for the Eat.Sleep.Knit Yarnathon - Chunky KAL.

On the Needles - 1/9/15

There now are three stripes on my Blue Sand. I have one more row to knit and then I can change back to Dust Bowl for the next stripe.

I don't know where my brain is at lately, but I had to rip back the cast on because I used the wrong color and needle size. Now I just realized I mixed up the two contrast colors. I only have one skein of the Bloomsbury (blue) so I won't have enough for another sections plus sleeves. So rather than ordering more yarn, now I'm thinking of using both contrast colors for the last section to make blues stripes. Hopefully it won't look too weird.

On the Needles - 1/2/15

Yesterday I cast on the BlueSand cardigan. I am knitting the Raglan-Saddle shoulder version. Yarn is Madelinetosh Sport in Dust Bowl (main color), Gossamer (contrast color #1 - in the photo), and Bloomsbury (contrast color #2).
