On the Needles - 10/30/15

It's been a while since I've posted.  I lost my knitting mojo for a while, but it's back and I've finished several things.  All of my Loopy Academy Sophomore Year - Semester 1 projects have been completed. The links go to my Ravelry project pages if you want to know more about the pattern or yarn.

I've also been working on trying to complete the ESK Q4 badges. I have six more to go.

Currently I'm working on the Hexipuff badge. I need to knit 30 of these. I had originally said I wasn't going to do this but I'm getting close to completing all of the other badges so I figured it would be a crime to not earn the next level prize because I didn't complete one badge. I'm using up leftover yarn from other projects.

I also finally received my Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails yarn and have cast on a cowl for the My Little Pony and ROYGBIV badges. It's not very far along so I don't have a picture yet.

Off & On the Needles - 9/18/15

Another week with a finish. The crochet scarf is done. I think it turned out pretty good for just learning crochet. The designer even asked if she could feature my picture on her pattern page.

Right after completing the scarf, I cast on for the first Loopy Ewe school assignment - a pillow. Two of the three pieces are done. I should be able to complete the last piece this weekend and maybe even get it seamed together.  I need to find some buttons for it too. The pattern is Independent Pillow. The yarn is Cascade 128 Aran in Melon. This is my first time knitting with the Aran weight. It won't be my last. I'm not an orange person, but I love this color!

Have you heard about the Scoreboard KAL? You choose your favorite football team's colors, whether it be college, high school or NFL. You knit a scarf and the pattern is based on the score of the game for the entire season. Check out the link above to learn more. At the end of the season you'll have a unique scarf. I'm thinking of doing it. My local yarn shop is doing it and has been emailing the results each week.

On the Needles - 7/10/15

The baby cardigan has grown quite a bit this week. I have one more inch to knit before the cabled hem. I'm hoping to have the body finished by this time next week.

Camp Loopy Project 3 requirements were released earlier this week.  I ordered Madelinetosh Vintage in Antique Lace and Black Walnut to knit Gideon (Ravelry link).

TLE Loopy Academy Finishes

I completed my freshman year Loopy Academy assignments!

The stripey cowl knit in Cascade 220 in the Blue Topaz and Primavera colorways.

Lagoon Honey Cowl knit in Fibrestory DK CORE in the Lagoon colorway.

I was planning on getting back to Blue Sands, but I decided to cast on Kinta for the ESK shawl KAL and cast on queen badge.

On the Needles - 2/27/15

Change of plans for my last Loopy Ewe stripe assignment. The other pattern I had planned on knitting wasn't working out so well, so I decided to use my leftover yarn from the felted bag and knit a stripey hat.

The hat didn't use enough yardage to qualify for the assignment, so I cast on for the coordinating stripey cowl. I'm hoping to make a lot of progress on this over the weekend.

Loopy Academy Finish - Felted Bag

My felted bag assignment is complete. The washer partially felted the bag so I stuck it in the dryer where it completely felted.  I filled it up with, what else, yarn as soon as it was dry.

Before taking it's bath. I had to laugh, when I wound my yarn I noticed that my little scissors was the exact same colors as my yarn.

Upcoming Knitting Projects

I'm almost done with my second Loopy Academy assignment and then have to decide what my next project will be.

My third Loopy Academy assignment will be the Double Stripe Cowl using the following yarn. Looking at the variegated yarn just makes me happy, it's so bright and colorful.

For the ESK colorwork KAL, I'm going to knit the Pixelated Pullover in Button Jar Blue, Begonia Leaf and Stovepipe.

Then there is the ESK mitered square KAL, I'm going to knit the Cerys Baby Blanket. My nephew and his fiancee are expecting a baby in August. I emailed them asking what the colors would be for the baby's room and was told it would be camouflage. The dark brown, orange and green will be the main stripe colors. The lighter brown will be a stripe separately each main color. The second picture has the first light brown I ordered, but it seemed a little too dark. The first picture shows the new light brown I ordered, but it may be too light. I haven't decided which one I'll use yet.

The ESK sock KAL, I'm planning on using the yarn I won during last year's yarnathon for Hermione's socks.

So much knitting to do!!!

On the Needles - 2/20/15

Last Saturday I completed my honey cowl and felted the wine carrier. It took two wash cycles, but it finally felted. The honey cowl still needs to be blocked.

After completing those two projects, I cast on the felted bag for the Loopy Academy assignment. I just started the handle so hopefully can finish this today or tomorrow. It's sitting on a box upside down so I could photo it.

I haven't decided what I'll work on once this is done. I should get back to my Blue Sands but I also want to cast on my last Loopy Academy assignment so I can get that done. Decisions, decisions.

On the Needles - 2/13/15

Happy Friday the 13th! All that is left to do on the Honey Cowl is the bind off which I plan on finishing tomorrow. Although I need the needles that are currently on the wine carrier for the bind off. I always use larger needles to bind off so it's not so tight.

I had a case of startitis and cast on for the wine carrier. I'm over halfway done. Not sure it's going to be wide enough once felted, but practice makes perfect. The yarn is Noro Kureyon and it's single ply. This yarn has not changed my opinion on single ply yarn....still not a fan. I  hope to complete the knitting this weekend....we'll see if I feel like trying to felt it too.

On the Needles - 2/8/15

I'm still working on my Blue Sand cardigan. It's getting kind of heavy to hold so I've been alternating between working on it and other smaller projects. The hem and pocket linings are complete. Next up is the neckband.

The new Loopy Academy assignments came out last week. Since the yardage requirements are still fairly small, I decided to "attend" second semester. On Wednesday, I cast on for the first assignment - slipped stitches. I'm making another honey cowl. The yarn is Fibrestory CORE DK in the Lagoon colorway. The yarn is very soft but also slippery. I've almost dropped stitches a couple of times.

I'm over halfway with the first skein which would be enough to meet the yardage requirements, but I wanted to make it longer so I still have a ways to go.

Once I finish the honey cowl, I plan on casting on for the ESK felted KAL. (Loopy Academy also has a felted project assignment.) I've never felted anything before so this should be interesting. For the ESK KAL, I'm making a wine carrier bag. For Loopy Academy, I'm going to make Angela's Fabulous Felted Bag to carry groceries, yarn projects, or whatever. That's the plan anyway.

On the Needles - 9/19/14

My School Spirit Cowl is now off the needles. I almost immediately cast on my next Loopy Academy assignment - Wurm hat. The brim is complete. The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Mediumweight in Thraven Fledge. I love the stitch definition in this yarn. After I took this picture, I finished two repeats but it was too dark to take another picture.

No more progress has been made on my Heathered Cardigan. Once I finish the hat, I will get back to Heathered.

School Spirit Cowl - Loopy Academy Finish #1

I completed my first project assignment for the first semester of Loopy Academy. The pattern is Three-Season Cowl (free at Ravelry). The yarn is Biscotte & Cie - Felix in the Eragon colorway.

Loopy felt photogenic today so he showed up to help model my finished cowl.

He thinks the cowl would also make a nice afghan.

I have two assignments left, the hat and mittens. The hat was cast on this afternoon.
