FO: Caramello - Blocked Version

I finally got Caramello blocked earlier this week too, but didn't get a picture taken until yesterday.

Pattern:  Multnomah (Ravelry link)
Yarn:  Zen Yarn Garden - Art Walk Sock Club - Lilies colorway (July 2010)
Needles:  size 3 circulars
Modifications:  Knit garter section larger so there would be 7 fan and feather repeats. 

I had a couple boo-boos with a couple yarn overs and had to rip back to my lifeline at one point but they were all my own fault.  I could definitely see making another one of these.

FO: Caramello

Caramello is FINISHED!!!  I still need to block it but I couldn't wait until it was blocked to post a picture.  I like how it turned out, although for as much knitting I did, it's not as big as I had thought.  I'm thinking that after blocking it, it will seem bigger.

I'm trying to decide what yarn I should use for my next one.  I had thought about trying a different pattern, but that one uses a larger needle, and I don't have a longer cable for that size.  So I think I'm going to make another Multnomah.  Which if I do, I think it will look nicer with a variegated or semi-solid yarn, so I think I need to look through my stash.

Friday Night Progress

Last night I decided to tackle Caramello and get it back on track.  I figured out where the markers needed to go after I had to tink (knit spelled backwards) back to my lifeline.  It now has one more row knit than I had before my 'oops'.  I'm on row 4 of the 8th repeat.  My goal was to have this done by the end of August, so it's still feasible that it will happen.  I'd for sure like to have it done by next Saturday.

I also started working on Welcome to My Pad last night.  Everything is cut, just need to start sewing.  Although I remember now why I don't work with panels more often.  Like most, it isn't straight on the fabric so I need to be a little creative with how I sew the border on.

This morning I've been working on quilting Alpha Buddies.  I started with the Windy Day panto but I didn't like how it was looking, so I ripped the little bit I had and decided on Ebb and Flow instead.  I have a couple more passes and it will be done, but I have a graduation party to go to so it'll have to wait until I get back.

Gaggle of Geese

It was a productive day off today.  I've finally got a gaggle of geese.  All of the flying geese sets are done for Washington Medallion...they just need to be sewn together.  Once I finish Step 4, I think I may need to take a short break from this again.

Two more repeats have been completed on Caramello for a total of five. 

I also loaded Sweet Summertime on the frame.  Hopefully I can quilt it over the weekend.  It shouldn't take too long.

Design Wall Monday - 8/16

Sweet Summertime just needs the borders added and it'll be a flimsie.  Only 4 more flying geese sets to make for the Washington Medallion BOM.

Also in progress is Caramello which I just started the fan and feather portion.

Back!

Earlier in the week we were "Up North" vacationing with my SIL and her family at a cottage they rented for the week.  Hubby went water skiing and tubing while I was photographer and spotter.  One goal was to get SIL's entire family (3 kids ranging in age from 8 to 16, SIL, and BIL holding a 3 year old) up on water skis so I could get a picture for them to use for their Christmas card.  It took several tries but it was a success!

Besides going out on the boat, I finished one book and read another from front to back.  I also finished the first portion of Caramello...265 stitches.  Now I'm ready to start the fan and feather portion.

What would a vacation be without checking out the local quilt shop?!?!  I bought 3 charm packs of Adoring, 2 hanks of yarn, and two 40" needles - one size 2 and the other size 3 (so I have more room when I knit shawls).

When we got back, we were surprised to see that someone else had come back.....our duck.  He had been gone for over a month b/c he molted his flight feathers.  We think he had been spending the night at one of the neighbor's ponds and must not have been able to fly back home.  (Guess for a duck it would have been a pretty long walk.)  We're glad he remembered where home was once he could fly again.  The goose is happy to have her buddy back too.

Project Updates

Washington Medallion BOM (and a sneak peek of Sweet Summertime) - 8 of 16 flying geese sets complete!

Caramello - 207 stitches on the needles and counting!  At this point I'm wishing I'd used a longer circ. needle.

Caramello Progress

I'm making good progress on Caramello.  I found instructions on Ravelry to make the shawl larger so now I have a little bit further to go before I can start the fans and feathers portion.

Siesta Sunday

It's time for a siesta.  I've been a busy girl this morning.  I made 3 more flying geese sets for Washington Medallion....4 sets down, 12 more to go.  I'm glad I'm not making all of these separate, but it's taking me a while to paper piece the sets.

Since I need to bust some stash, I started cutting a new project I'm calling Sweet Summertime.  I have over half of the block pieces cut out.  The background strips are cut, but still need to be cut into squares.

This is the progress I made on Caramello yesterday.  There are about 115 of the 229 stitches done that I need for the first portion of the shawl.  After my siesta I'll work on it some more.

All Tangled Up

We had another storm go through around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.  I couldn't sleep with all the thunder so I thought I'd work on winding a hank of yarn that I wanted to use.  Bad idea!  It ended up getting all knotted up.  I worked on untangling until 4:30 a.m. and then decided I better get back to sleep or my entire day would be shot.

Finally, after many more hours of untangling, it is wound into a ball.

Monday night I cast on my first shawl which I'm calling Caramello since the yarn makes me think of chocolate and caramel.  Last night I made a little more progress and it looks a little something like this....
