Flint I-Cord

Last weekend I finished the body and tonight I finished adding the i-cord (tie).  All that's left are the sleeves.  I tried working on Sleeve #1 the other night but the pattern wasn't coming out right, so I ripped it out and will need to play around to get it to come out right.

Tomorrow I have a class to learn continental and fair isle knitting.  We're making a hat with hearts on it and the hearts are a different color.  I'll post a picture after my class.

Design Wall Monday - 1/24

Ten of 12 Canterbury Crossing blocks are complete.  I have to finish two more blocks and then on to the sashing.

The finished knitting the body on Flint.  I have to finish the sleeves and i-cord.

I am almost done with the Winter Wonder cowl....just 4 more rows before I bind off.

Ecstatic

Here is a progress picture of Flint.  I'm absolutely loving how this is knitting up.  I still have a ways to go before it's finished, but it's coming along.  Hard to believe I just started this 2-1/2 weeks ago!  The last couple sweaters I knit took me 3+ months!

Go Forward, Move Ahead

I won't sing the rest of the song, but this is what came to mind when I was thinking of a title for today's post. 

The Knitting Gods were smiling on me today because they helped me with this...

Saturday I was working on my Flint cardigan and after a couple rows noticed that I dropped some stitches because I ended up with two big holes instead of the smaller holes which you can see at the bottom of the picture.  I was not feeling confident about fixing this by myself since there are yarnovers and other decrease stitches involved, so I was going to stop at the LYS Tuesday afternoon to get help.  We ended up getting snow so I didn't go because the roads weren't that great.  Today was my day off and I really wanted to work on it, so I decided to give it a go on my own.  The worst-case would be that I'd have to start all over.  I slowly ripped out four rows and carefully picked the stitches up with a darning needle and waste yarn.  Yeah, me!  Thankfully I didn't lose any stitches and now I'm moving forward (as seen below).  I left the waste yarn (the "white-ish" color thread towards the bottom) in as a lifeline in case I goofed again.

Before I worked up the nerve to fix Flint, I worked more on the Winter Wonder cowl.  I'm almost through the third repeat.  I have one more repeat to go and then the border.  I'm liking these quick knit projects!

I also signed up for a knitting class at the end of the month.  It's to learn continental knitting and colorwork/fair isle.  We'll be knitting a hat with some hearts on it.  I'm hoping once I learn the continental way of knitting that my speed will pick up so I can get projects done quicker (and hopefully still efficiently).  I have a lot of sweaters in my queue in Ravelry.   And an added bonus is learning to do colorwork is one of my goals for the year!

Can you believe it's almost the weekend!?!?  I can't wait!

OTN - Flint

I finally, after months of wanting to, cast on Flint - my first top-down cardigan.  Thankfully the designer, Samantha from KnitQuest, created a couple of videos to show how some of the stitches were done. 

I finished the first 15 set-up rows this afternoon.  The blue/white yarn on top is waste yarn that I used to cast on my initial stitches.  That will be taken off, I just didn't get to it yet.  The two parts with "holes (or yarnovers)" are the beginning of the sleeves. 

So far I'm liking knitting this...especially since I can "try it on" as I'm knitting.  I'm absolutely loving the color of the yarn (Blue Moon Fibers' Woobu, colorway Spinel) too....a gorgeous blue-green.

Now I'm off to work on the applique that I was supposed to have done earlier today.
